Glasgow Poster Poems -
The Subway Budgie
The posters were part of a series commissioned by the Scottish
Arts Council for display in the Glasgow Underground but rejected
by Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive as unsuitable
('there are no piranhas in the Underground'). (see Crawford,
Robert, Hamish Whyte, About Edwin Morgan, Edinburgh:
EUP, 1990, p. 158.)
Glasgow Poster Poems, Glasgow: National Book League
(Scotland), 1983. All four poems - The Budgie, The
Cat, The Giraffe, The Piranhas - were reprinted
under the title The Glasgow Subway Poems in: Collected
Poems, Manchester: Carcanet Press, 1990, pp. 566f.
